What to Expect
AT YOUR APPOINTMENT
Our goal is to create a relaxed atmosphere for our clients that prioritize comfort and privacy.
After registration, you will be brought to a private and secure changing room where scrubs will be provided for you if needed. It is important to ensure that clothing or metal objects in pockets will not interfere with the CT scan.
When you are ready, a technologist will escort you to the scanner room.
During your scan, you will lie back on a comfortable, padded table. The table slides smoothly through the scanner while the CT scanner captues the needed images of your body. You may be asked to hold your breath, for a few seconds at a time, while the CT scanner images your body.
The specially-trained technologist that will be working with you—and will be in both visual and audio contact, should you have a question or require assistance at any time.
At Internal Vision, our goal is that you should not feel any discomfort associated with this exam. Unlike an MRI, the CT scanner is open, non-threatening and quiet. Many of our clients find the imaging time to be a relaxing experience.
The scanning process is private, pain-free—and there are no injections or dyes.
While you change back into your clothes, our team of technologists and radiologists will process and review your images. A follow-up appointment will be made with a doctor, who will sit down with you in a private consultation room and review the digital images with you.
In addition to the consultation with a physician, you will be provided with a written report and a CD-ROM of your digital images that can be viewed on any computer. For your convenience, we can also send one or more copies of the report to your primary care or specialist physician, at your request. Our professional staff can also assist you in finding a physician to follow-up if any abnormalities are detected in the imaging or exam.
On some occasions, we may recommend a repeat screening based on the results of your scan. If our radiologist feels this is the best course of action, we can schedule a follow up appointment while still in the office.
Scheduling an appointment is quick and easy—you can set yours by calling 978.998.4155.
You do not need an official referral. Although most medical insurance plans do not cover the cost of a full body cat scan, many insurers and medical savings plans, may cover some of the costs as “wellness and preventive services.” We will provide you with a detailed receipts for your records and any potential reimbursement.
We offer appointments Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Your scanning appointment generally takes an hour, although we recommend you be here 15 minutes prior to fill out any last minute paperwork or pre-scan information. Actual time in the scanner is less than 10 minutes.
